January 2008

The Wood Shop is in excellent condition with plenty of work space for more members.  The seasonal cost is only $20.

Two recent service projects were completed by Wood Shop personnel:

1)      Two new work tables in the Rec Hall Kitchen were made, complete with casters, they can now be moved for floor cleaning.  They were made to accommodate the original stainless steel counter tops.

2)      The Wood Shop made (24) donation boxes (they look like small bird houses) which will be used for CAAFA (Community Alliance Against Family Abuse).  One of our Roadhaven residents asked the Shop to provide the Shop equipment and labor.  CAAFA gave a contribution to the Shop to defray cost of supplies and equipment use.

The Wood Shop will be providing a wood turning class in January.  George Burgess will be the instructor.  The class will be limited to three students since the Shop has only three lathes.  A sign-up sheet will be posted in the Rec office in January.

There will be a general meeting for all members on January 17, 2008 at 7:00 pm in the Yuma Room.  Members please mark your calendars.

Ceramics, Lapidary, Silversmith and the Wood Shop have joined forces and will be serving hot dogs at the annual club/organization Open House on January 16, 2008.

The annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on February 21, 2008 in the Rec Hall.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
